“Rain or Shine” Gicleé Prints

“Rain or Shine” – It’s interesting to me how this image of a cowboy and his horse has resonated with so many people. I love that so many have reached out to me to say things like,  “I’ve been there!”, “I can smell the mixture of the wet horse, grass, manure, and fresh rain!”, “That reminds me of where I grew up!” Those are the same things I could feel, smell, and hear in my head as I worked on this painting. Initially I had only planned for a lot of mud in the scene. As I completed the figures, I had to set this painting aside for a couple of weeks. I was really happy with them but felt like there needed to be something more than just mud in the foreground to have the impact I was hoping for. The missing piece came to me as I was driving past a partially flooded pasture following a heavy rain. I was so inspired, I raced back to the studio, placed the painting back on my easel, and had it completed by the end of the following day.
