“Speaking to Grandfather” Gicleé Prints

“Speaking to Grandfather” – As an artist, I attend different photoshoots to gather reference material. It was during one of these events I was conversing with my Native American model and asked him to relax for a moment while I took some test shots. I do this a lot to fool my subjects into relaxing vs. posing, and proceed to take real photos. Some of my best reference material has been obtained this way. The image that led to this painting was one of those. It was as if he was having a moment of silence and contemplation. Luckily for me, so was his horse. It was somewhat of a reverent pose, as though he was praying. “Grandfather” is a term used to describe the Great Spirit.
